New engineering candidates attend job expo at Dow

St. Charles, LA - March 14, 2006

About 15 perspective engineering candidates, recently participated in a Dow Job Expo held at the St. Charles Operations site. The candidates were among several from across the country that had applied online at www.dowcareers.com for about ten engineering positions available at the St. Charles facility.

The engineering candidates represented many Louisiana universities including LSU, ULL and Louisiana Tech, but also represented were Washington University, Wayne State University and the University of Akron. Following an introduction and tour of the St. Charles Operations site, the candidates heard from several site leaders and then had the opportunity to interview with the hiring managers for the openings.

St. Charles Operations Site Leader Nawzer Parakh said, “The engineer positions have become available due to a combination of attrition (retirements), employees transferring to other Dow locations, our drive for increased reliability and growth at the site.”

There were a variety of reasons why the engineering candidates chose to pursue careers at Dow. Several mentioned the overall stability of the company and the fact that Dow is very involved and supportive of local communities. Other reasons included the opportunities for professional growth since Dow is a global company and the professionalism of Dow as one of the largest chemical companies in the world.
